Stonehenge with the 2020 Comet Neowise (C2020f3) Neowise was discovered 27th March 2020 and won’t be seen again for 6,800 years as it continues on its eliptical orbit away from the sun. The nucleus measured about 3 miles across with its tail extending between hundreds of thousands millions of miles long, depending on its proximity to the sun.
Taken with a startracker to capture the beautiful blue ion tail on the comet as it came to its closest to earth (around 64 million miles away). This took a lot of planning to get the alightment right. I then had to wait until 2.30am for the comet to drop lower in the sky to have less distance between Stonehenge and to allow enough space not to cut off the tail.
Taken with my Nikon D850 and professionally printed in carbon neutral lab in London (additionally for every print bought I donate £5 to the Woodland Trust to help offset any delivery impact). I have chosen to print on Hahnemühle German Etching, which has a warm base tone adding to the colour of the light pollution from Larkhill Camp. German Etching is a heavy weight Giclée art printing paper at 310 gsm.
