Moonlit boats at Burnham Overy Staithe, Norfolk
This was taken at 3.30am on the hard at Burnham Overy Staithe. The boats gently lit by the rising moon which was diffused to a warm glow by the earths atmostphere. The glowing clouds on the horizon are noctilucent clouds which only appear in midsummer with the angle of the sun reflecting on ice crystals that are over the north pole at 76,000-85,000 metres above the earths surface. It was a very still night which gave no movement on the boat masts and allowed the reflection of comet Neowise in the water with the 4 second exposure.
Taken with my Nikon D850 and professionally printed in carbon neutral lab in London (additionally for every print bought I donate £5 to the Woodland Trust to help offset any delivery impact). I have chosen to print on Hahnemühle German Etching, which has a warm base tone adding to the pre-sunrise glow of the horizon and the moonlight on the boats. This paper also has a watercolour texture which creating a painterly feel. German Etching is a heavy weight Giclée art printing paper at 310 gsm.
