Norwegian Red Hut

A small red hut photographed nestled in a snow drift in the Lofoten Islands in Northern Norway.

I spent a month on the Lofoten Islands in February/March 2019. I passed this beautiful hut daily and decided to stop this morning as the snow was so beautiful drifting around it making it look very snug when the weather was so bitterly cold. These huts are called Rorbua in Norwegian, they are used by fishermen to store their equipment.

Taken with my Nikon D850 and professionally printed in carbon neutral lab in London (additionally for every print bought I donate £5 to the Woodland Trust to help offset any delivery impact). I have chosen to print on Hahnemühle German Etching, which has a warm base tone and a mottled texture which enhances the snow, and deeply absorbs the red ink enriching the colour. German Etching is a heavy weight Giclée art printing paper at 310 gsm.
